In the previous episode, we got this legendary E31 running and in this one after long 10 years, it's back in drivable condition again! We sort out the sinking clutch pedal, brakes, cooling system and throttle bodies. Towards the end of the video, we also talk about the future plans for this project.

  • Just to add a couple more things. Calypso red is staying and it'll get a fresh paint job at one point. The engine is currently working great, but it will eventually need the timing chain replaced because of the noise, hence the idea to go 3 million steps further and do the upgrades I mentioned in the video. Don't expect a new episode on this project any time soon as I first need to find a bigger place in order to get the ball rolling with this build!

    • i'd try to restore the original paint, in doubt give the car to professional detailers. It'll save the value of the car (because a repaint rises doubt of accident free sheet metal). Sorry for my faulty wnflish. Greets from Germany.

  • You can rent dry ice blasting kit, no need to buy unless you will be offering this as a service? As for finding a bigger place, have you considered renting an "industrial unit" as they are called in UK? I must admit I was shocked when you mentioned "hot dogging (LOL)" that venerable old gentleman of a 8-series! No respect for your elders lol

  • Nice video once again. Thanks for sharing your amazing restorations. I learnt a lot to take care of my e46 325xi! For this e31 I love this color combination (though blue is also my favorite color as well) I wouldn't re-paint the whole car. If this is a too-long-term project you could also sell this car once it gets TüV. I'm pretty sure you could find a new owner rather easily. Who knows, it could go back to France ?

  • It would be nice to see how the discs (rotors) cleaned up during those stops. I never fit new pads and discs to garden finds like this straightaway. I simply make sure pistons and slide pins are doing what they should and let them clean up 'naturally' by themselves; then reassess later. Can we see how the discs and brakes generally have responded during these short braking runs please?

The only thing I am missing is the better rear diff, Wokke Chips (not sure if they will work properly since I have no Cats and well I have M73 block and heads). I got to take care of the suspension alignment and a few other little things. I think the last major thing I want to do to mine is wrap it. Its currently jet black.
